A slide scanner might be able to scan the microfilm at a good enough
resolution to run it through Acrobat Writer or whatever Vineet used to make
the Manual CD.  Otherwise, a lot of the microfilm readers at the library
near me have printers built in to print what you are viewing.

It'd sure be nice to walk in with a part number or be able to easily phone
in any part to one of the mail-order parts vendors.  I've sometimes spent a
lot* of time waiting for a part to get looked up on the computer.

better, i can hit a 1200 watt bass note with no headlight dimming! power

Nope, sorry, but not true.

As soon as the cryoed is done, the MOLECULAR structure of the metal is
CHANGED....so it's much more stable.

Of course, you can still damage your rotors if you have them glowing red,
and then wash the car.....

On the other hand, I saw cryoed 1919 barrels glowing red...then cooled by
pouring WATER on them....no warp, and guns was still amazingly accurate.....
I also have my Glock18 barrel cryoed....and got 100.000 9mm rounds through
it, often full auto (it's nicely warm in winter....). It stills shoots a
postcard at 200 yards

I have had an alarm that sets itself, runs all the time and I have never
worried about running anything at anytime, in any combination and am on
my 3rd batter (93 ES). I would only be on the 2nd, but the side mounts
on my last one started leaking.

My advice: get the highest cold cranking amps battery you can find that
will fit in the car.

I understand the object of cryogenic treatment is to alter the molecular structure but I'm
getting information that says for normal use it's a good thing, but were not talking normal
use here. 100,000 rounds through your 9mm is not abnormal, 100,000 rounds in 10 minutes
is, and the heat generated may well alter the moleculer structure.
The same with the brakes, normal use might get them to several hundred degrees while
racing will get them to eighteen hundred degrees. I guess my question is, do race teams use
cryogenic treatment or not??

My point was that we have twenty people on the list but they must call GC and place an
order for the purchase to be official. I was told that all the people had NOT called to
confirm their purchase. Nothing gets done untill all 20 respond.
In addition, I'm not sure 20 is a limiting number. On most group purchases a minimum
is established but you can call in later and get on the list.

Why not calling GC and asking them directly. I was told that there are 25 people
on the list and I placed my order with the price of 20+ people.

The GP organizer is not on this list, so talk directly to the guy at GC and
mention DSM GP.

Yes, they DO !!

Not only on brakes, but on engine parts as well.and during a race, the get
hot.

Anyway, I'm about to buy porterfields X-drilled, cryoed front rotors.....(IF
they answer my e-mails)...as soon as I get them....I'll go to the

I guess I'm not making myself very clear here :-(

Twenty people said they wanted the GC parts.  Twenty people have  "not " followed up
on their commitment to buy.

The group purchase is on hold untill everybody on the list calls GC and makes their purchase.

I was told by GC that they [ GC ] are waiting for the rest of the people to sign up.

No people --- no product [ at $300 anyway ].

Dear gang:

At 2:15 pm on Friday, I checked with GC about our purchase.
He has been contacted by 45 people so far, and has more than the required
20 orders.

He expects to start shipping our systems in a week or so.

We are all getting the upgraded upper rear spring perch and longer rear
spring, same as the system used by Chuck and Mike Willis.

He's still taking orders ($300 special deal for a group purchase, or 25%
off the regular price), so if you want to get in on it, call 530-677-8600.

Subject: Team3S: Check Engine Light Codes

Does anyone know how to read the check engine light
codes in a 95 VR4?  I can't find the info in the
manual.  My check engine light came on and it feels
like it's running on 5 cylinders.  I put a timing
light on all the wires to find that one is not firing.
It fires once in a while.  I guess either the wire or
plug has a short or maybe an open.
I put the old wire and plug back on the coil and
grouded the base of the plug.  It had great spark, and
the timing light was flashing away, so it's definately
the new Magnecors or the plug.  My damn luck.. it's
one in the back!  There goes my 3 day weekend.
Please cc the following e-mail account if you have some
info for me coz I won't be able to check this account
from home.

Try to largen the contact in the boot (on the coil side). It helped on my

Subject: Re: Team3S: Dual battery question

Chris,
Besides the battery, is your electrical system stock?  I don't wanna burst your
bubble, but 1200 watts sounds a little high.  Consider the fact that volts x amps =
watts, and the fact that even a good car audio amplifier is only 75% efficient, if
that.  For an amp to be cranking out 1200 watts, that'd mean that your looking at
drawing 120+ amps of current from your electrical system for just the stereo.  There's
just no way the stock system, particularly the alternator, could handle that.  Btw, if
ya wanna measure what the amp is actually putting out, do this...  Get a volt meter,
crank the system up.  Measure how many volts the amp is cranking out.  Take that number
and square it, then divide it by the impedance the amplifier is seeing.  If you have two
four ohm woofers wired in parallel, the amplifier would be seeing a 2 ohm load.  For
example:  I got curious about what my Phoenix Gold MPS 2240 (24 x 2, 1/4 ohm stable) was
putting out, so I measured it one day.  I had two JBL 1200 GTIs (4 ohm wired in parallel
= 2 ohm) running mono.  I cranked it up, and measured almost 28 volts.  I didn't have a
digital meter, so it might have actually gone higher than 27.75 volts.  27.75 x 27.75 =
770.  Since the amplifier was seeing a 2 ohm load I divided 770 by 2 and got 385 watts.
This was done with the stock alternator and beefed up battery, 850 cca I believe, in my
Beretta.  My headlights dimmed severely and I watched the voltage drop well under 11
volts at the battery several times.  Needless to say, I put 3 alternators in the car
before I got rid of it, one even went up in flames and I cursed the fact that I had to
waste my coke to put out the fire, the car wasn't worth it.  This was roughly a 40 amp
draw on the electrical system, nowhere near the 120+ amps you'd need to support 1200
watts.

To all and sundry,

I recently purchased a 1991 3000GT VR-4 with 23K miles. The car looks brand
new (it is the pearl white paint with dark grey and red interior) and has
the original 3000GT floor mats. But that isn't the reason for this post.

While driving from Pittsburgh, PA to Huntsville, AL I had occasion to open
it up on Interstate 71 between Columbus and Cinncinati at around 4 a.m. A
State Trooper coming the other way turned on his lights and came after me.
He told me that he had me at 167 mph!!!! Now, I know that no stock VR-4
will go that fast and since that was only the fourth day I had driven the
car I felt that the Trooper was mistaken (he showed me his radar readout -
167). As I'm an ex-cop I got away with a warning and a smile.

Upon returning to Pittsburg I took the car to the dealer to find out why
this particular car produced speeds that high (the pedal wasn't on the
floor). They put the car on the computer and told me that the engine had
been worked on and they thought it was probably an engine from Japan,
rather than a stock mill from the U.S. As I bought the car from a private
party, I went back to him and asked the obvious question "What had been
done to the engine?". With a wry smile on his lips, I was informed that the
engine is one of 14 that were specially built by Mitsu Racing for test
purposes in 1994. He had been in Japan in 1995 and had picked up the engine
(wouldn't say how) and installed it in the VR-4.

To make a long story short, he informed me that the engine is rated at
460HP and has a metal-link timing belt and several other goodies that he
isn't sure of (at least the technical details) including a Jack Knife
5-speed transmission, and beefed up drive train.

So my question is this - do any of you know anything about this engine? I'm
already familiar with Mr. Knife's transmissions and drive train mods, but
the engine has me stumped.

Thanx for the help (if any is forthcoming).

John
