Team3S: Picture in Turbo Mag.
On page 41 of the May issue of Turbo, there
is a crappy B&W picture of
the engine of a VR-4. This car was at
the Tokyo Auto Salon Show. Does
anyone know anything about this
setup. It looks like they moved the
turbos up to the top of the engine
and reworked all the plumbing.
Why is is that the one picture of a
Stealth/3000GT is these magazines
is always so terrible. But on the
other hand I got to see yet ANOTHER
picture of the HK$ Skyline.

Re: Team3S: Picture in Turbo Mag.
I have the picture of last years on my
website from the Auto Salon, It's also on the
Bozz Speed Site.
http://home.adelphia.net/~rpmmotor/
http://www.bozz.co.jp
New products out
by Bozz Speed are an enlarged Radiator and new front end, basically the
front
end for 94+'s with the vent intake in the bumper.
Regarding the springs
without tension on the coilover's. The Bozz Spee coilover use a
similar setup
as the Ground Controls, where there is no tension on the springs except
the
weight of the vehicle. This does take some getting used to. Since I've hit
some
pretty hard bumps with this suspension already. It leads to a lot of
clanging when the
springs land back on the perch, but it allows u to quickly
adjust the collars for height
without removing the wheels. I'm yet to
experience a situation where the spring fully
misaligns, I think this is
usually prevented by having collars which cause the spring to
slip back into
a certain position when the load is placed back on them.
Similarly
Motorcycles use a coilover setup which are very similar in idea to the
ones
being offered.
The only other alternative to this is to utilize the
dual spring coilovers, not sure who
offers them, but I think Intrax is using
them, where you would have constant load on the
spring and you can alter
spring rates with the combination of the dual spring rates. But
this provides
constant load and makes it much more time consuming to adjust. The
basic
function of coilover suspensions is to provide a quick adjustable means
to changing
things.
Another thing that I seem to have noticed with the
ground control setup is how they use
a collar that locks with little hex
screw, I seem to like how other companies use two
collars which lock each
other sorta like a friction lock.

This is easy enough
to rectify: just order another collar then you can
lock the two collars
against each other AND set the set-screwS. Then
there is no way that
puppy would move.

GREAT
CONGRATS WITH THE FIX - I AM HAPPY TO HEAR YOUR BACK WITH THE
SPEEEDSTERS
AGAIN... I guess I'll have to check those plugs and wires
too.
Hey were any of the plug wires on wrong or was it just the fact
you
changed the plugs and wires? Why did you gap at .35 I thought the
stock
gap was .41 or .44?

Here are the book specs
on spark plugs:
All 3S
Spark plug gap: 1.0 - 1.1 mm (.039 - .043
in.)
(But we have seen on list that those running higher
than stock
boost usually go to a lower gap ~.034)
NOTE: For the platinum plug, use
care not to damage
the platinum tip. Never try to adjust the plug
gap.
Install the spark plug and tighten to 25 Nm (15
ft.lbs.)
Plugs (we've also seen that highly modified turbo cars
will go 1-2 colder)
Stealth
SOHC/DOHC
NGK BPR5ES-11/PER6J-11
DENSO W16EPR11/PK20PR-P11

Correct, stock plug gap is 0.044", however it
is
suggested that you run at 0.035" if you have a
VR4 and are planning to
increase your boost pressure
(via a boost controller, etc) as the smaller
gap
is required when running higher than stock
pressure.

The platinum plugs can be
adjusted without problems, you just have to do it
correctly.
Don't
beat on them, get it close to right the first time, use a proper plug
gap
tool if the gap needs to be opened, be careful not to damage the much
thinner
center electrode and so on. No problems.
The -11 refers to 0.045"
plug gap which is useless at boost levels much
above
stock.

Barry
