Paul;
I haven't read
the Mitsu mechanic discription but if you find it could you post or
direct to
it...I am not sure it was on this list. As for the flush...I performed it
on
mine which has had Mobil 1 since the dark ages, so it still cooks given
our engine/turbo
temperatures. I used the Gunk product, followed the
directions and it has solved the
problem till present. I noticed a bit of a
tick the last 2 outings so I may do it again
at the next change. I suspect a
turbo timer would help a bit, but allowing the car to
idle down for a minute
or two is just as good. If you park at home inside a garage,
popping the hood
as you get out, to enhance cooling, wouldn't hurt
either.

I'm
afraid it will not work !!!
a little bit of metallurgy here, trying to
translate from french into
english....and from stuff I learned a LONG time
ago...
Rotors warps because they are heated (well, in fact, get got
thermal
stress), and the final stress (warping) will develop around stresses
already
present in the metal, when the rotors were Mfg.
There is a way
to get rid of that stress...it's to cool (ahem, freeze) the
part to a state
where NONE of its molecules will move anymore, and you do
that by SLOWWLY
lowering the temp of the part down to an ABSOLUTE ZERO (that
is, -273 degree
centigrade, -459 F....), then when nothing will move
anymore, to
sloooooowwwwwly (I'm talking about one WEEK here)reheat the
part, letting the
atoms (rotors are made of steel, right) re-organize
according to their BEST
self orientation.....
When the part will be at ambient temp, then you'll have
no "hidden stress"
in the part itself.
It's likely that at this point
you'll have to re-turn the rotors...
The "best of the best" is then to
re-heat the rotors until they glow
white...and repeat the entire process
...that is, re cryo'ed them.
after that, there are a few tricks to
prevent your rotors to re-warp, but
basically they shouldn't warp because you
HEAT them.
Hope I'm clear...
BTW, this works wonders on sniper's
rifles, once can turn a loosy gun into a
sub MOA gun.....and on any
mechanical part that will be suddenly
heated...

There is also a process that uses
vibration to equalize internal
stresses in weldments, castings and
fabrications. I'm not sure that
this will help rotors stabilize and prevent
warping but it will
stabilize the internals stresses which cause the warping.
Is this a
thorough enough process?
I have a friend locally that owns a
heat treating facility that
performs this process and it could help. I'll
check with him to see if
he also does cryo too.

Stillen also

he said he can wholesale it to 'special

$350-$400...

RE: Team3S: performance doubts
Grant...
The stock boost gauge is
very inaccurate. It always pegs, and you're likely
not exceeding 10.5 psi of
boost. Boost is best above 3500 rpm, but then
drops off around 5500 rpm. You
have to play the gears to get that range. Our
cars are also very heavy.
Getting a good launch takes some practice. Best
performance (for a stock VR4)
is seen on the open road (with curves) where
you can take advantage of the
AWD, AWS, and boost range.
Check your plugs. The stock gap (.044") is way
too wide for WOT. Get a boost
controller. You can increase your boost by 50%
which is a NOTICEABLE
difference. Then drop your plugs to .034". You'll love
it. :-)
Looking forward...Chris

different load on the turbos when only removing one
pre-cat :( As there are

Team3S: Questions about hoses for boost controller
This is my first post,
been watching for a while. I bought a 98 VR4 in
February, and have done
a few mods (K&N FIPK, Borla Exhaust, Blitz FATT &
DSBC). The
most recent being the boost controller. I've got a few of
questions
about the hoses going to the boost controller. I'm shortening
excessive
hose length, and removing hoses that are no longer necessary.
Here are my
questions:
1. My assumption is that the boost controller, is just
detecting and
applying pressure from the hoses attached to it, in which case
I would be
better off with smaller diameter hose for a quicker response,
versus a
larger hose for more flow. Should I go for a larger or smaller
diameter?
2. There is a 4 way split on the original hose to the
Y-pipe.
a. Y-Pipe
b.
Original Wastegate solenoid
c & d.
Turbos???
If my assumptions are correct, can I run a
hose from each of the turbos
to a Y next to the DSBC, since I no longer need
the Y-Pipe connection or
original solenoid?
3. According to my
98 Service Manual (15-27-II) the factory wastegate
should actuate at 6.68psi
and may be damaged at more than 8.53psi. Will it
handle the increased
pressure, or should I replace the wastegate.

AP has had a 14" kit
available for a long time for the 3000GT/Stealth

doesn't seem to be much of an interest in the
brakes. I had offered this kit
awhile back and I had several customers
back down on the kit since it
REQUIRED 18 inch rims. Many customers
weren't comfortable with upgrading
wheels and a $3K+ brake kit.
But as it stands these are the kits I know
available by AP for the turbo
cars
12.2" AP Racing One Piece 6 POT
13"
AP Racing Two Piece 6 POT
14" AP Racing Two Piece 6 POT
For the 2WD
1991-1996 and probably higher models since my catalog is a
bit
old
13.0" AP Racing Two Piece 4 POT
All of these are available in
kit form, with Fluid, Stainless Steel
lines, pads, bracket
Also
available is an Greddy Alcon Brake system. But expect pricing to be
around
$4000-$5000 for this kit.
