Subject: Team3S: Will
not IDLE?
hello,
I know this was posted a while back, with someone
else having this problem,
but my car will not idle, and i think it's because
i unhoooked the battery,
and now it wants to die.. Someone told me to run it
for so long, and do
something else to it? and it will reset the computer..
can someone please
help me?
Thanks..
Jeff.

First,
check if the MAS connector is plugged in correctly. This is the most
reason
for this. Also let us know what you've done to the car when you
disconnected
the battery (add / changed what, how). No, it will not idle bad due
to fact
of unhooking the battery as this will actually reset the ECU. If
everything
is connected properly (also hoses and tubes) then drive the car for a
minute
and you should be fine.

I did
not change anything, I just put an after market set of fog lights on my
car.
Dodge told me that by resetting the ECU, that it can cause this, and
someone
told me how to fix it.. I think it was to keep the car at 2k rpms and
then
it should get back to running how it was supposed to. Other than the fog
lights, I did nothing.

Jeff;
Sounds strange if you didn't touch
anything else. Nothing? The ECU disconnect/reconnect
normally allows for
immediate reset of the idle and all most other standard or baseline
onboard
features that do not require fine tuning.
Roger's advice is accurate if
you unplugged the MAS, as is done wihen installing air
filter mods for
example. I would have thought it was that for sure from your
described
problem.
Did you reconnect your terminals tightly? and
insure they were clean? Have you tried the
advice of just taking the car
out for a short accelration up and down the rpm band? If
hesitant to do
so, at least pop the throttle a few times and see if that'll kick it
in.

Yeh, all I did was actually take the bolt off the battery
terminal. I had
this problem when i changed batteries last time also. Well,
I'm about to go
out and see if i can fix her up. : ) I'll tell you what
happens.

Subject: Team3S: 2 yr old
valve lifters getting noisy
I used to ignore all the chat about noisy
valve lifters 'cause the previous
owner of my '91 VR4 replaced the whole set
about a year before I got the car.
(records indicate about $700 parts +
labor for the full set) I figured I was
safe for at least a few more years -
regular oil changes w/ Mobil 1
synthetic, no hard revs when the engine is
cold, etc. Of course now I have
some valve noise...
I poked around on
the archives but couldn't find any of the previous valve
noise discussion. I
remember some talk about doing an oil flush when
switching from natural to
synthetic oil. I switched to synthetic on my first
oil change so I may need
to do this. Other than the oil flush, what else do I
need to
try?
Appreciate any advice I can get.
Also, there was a really
good technical description of what causes the noise
posted by a Mitsu
mechanic, I believe. Does anybody know where this is on the
archives?
Thanks
Paul Klusman

Rich-
No, I don't "ride" the brakes. I
have lived in the Appalacians for more
than
a half century. Also,
automobile high performance has been my hobby for
more than 50 years.
(Maybe I'm an older "poop" than you.) I stab the
brakes just
before the turn, then ride with heavy lateral g's through the
turn.
This
sometimes irritates my wife a little, but I enjoy it immensly. I do
it
kind of "big-time" when I'm alone. I have new front brake rotors in
hand,
and
hope they will cure the severe steering wheel shake when I get
them
installed.

Changing
the subject, I'd like to know if anyone has come up with an
upper front strut
tower brace. I think my '95 VR-4 really needs one.
I don't race any
more, but I corner pretty hard on mountain roads,
and there are too many
"flex-pops" coming from my car in serious
cornering.
