Our Racing and Racing School Experiences at Tracks Around the World

NOTE:  Many of us "sports car aficionados" (for want of a better term) would love to race, if we had the time, resources, and in some cases, if we realized how easy it is to participate.  Hobbyist racing really is quite accessible to the public, through dozens of racing schools and tracks spread throughout the US.  Many of these are more accurately known as "Driving Events", rather than "Racing", because of the safety restrictions imposed--  Strict no-contact rules and limited passing regulations (which are overseen by instructors, especially in the novice groups), ensure that everyone has a chance to safely, "Drive fast", "Have fun", and "Drive it home"!  Since many are classed as "Driving Instruction", the occasional mishap on the track is even covered by your insurance!

As to wear-and-tear on your car, any racing will test components more than average driving.  But remember that this is not an average car!  The Stealth and 3000GT are in the racing class called "GTO", which is the European classification, "Gran Turismo Omologato".  In English, that is translated, "Grand Touring class, Homologated for Racing".  That means that your car is already homologated for racing as it leaves the showroom!  It is made to stand up to the rigors of competitive driving.  That said, be aware that all types of racing are stressful to your car...  Drag racing tries to fry your engine in one shot, while trying to wrench off every component in the drivetrain from its neighbor.  Road racing tries to tear the car apart like pulled pork, stand it on its side, and use the engine as a barbecue.  Drag racing vs. Road racing--  It's not like the difference between apples and oranges -- it's more like the difference between good sex and bad sex...  As Woody Allen says, "even bad sex is great".  So let's leave it at, "All racing is fun"!

There is probably a track which offers such instruction and a chance at the "racing experience" within a few hours of your home.  On these pages, we share the experiences of Team3S members.  We already have several of these write-ups, and we'll be publishing them to this site as our schedule permits.   Hopefully, reading them will encourage you to seek out a track and school in your area.  You'll find lists of driving schools, clubs and tracks on our Driving Schools & Racing Clubs and Track Events web pages.  It's affordable.  It's fun.  And, most importantly, it will make you a better, safer driver.  Enjoy!
